Fair Usage Policy
Last updated: February 2025
We want everyone to have a great experience with Guac. These simple rules help us keep things fair and ensure reliable service for all our users. Think of it as the "rules of the road" for your eSIM.
Personal Use Only
Guac eSIMs are designed for personal, individual use. This means:
- Use your eSIM for your own phone, tablet, or personal hotspot
- Share your hotspot with travel companions (reasonable tethering is fine!)
- Don't use your eSIM to provide internet to a whole office or business
- Don't run servers or commercial services through your eSIM
No Reselling
Our eSIMs are not for resale or commercial redistribution:
- Don't resell Guac eSIMs or access to them
- Don't buy eSIMs to redistribute to others for profit
- Don't use our service as part of a commercial offering
- Sharing an unused eSIM with a friend or family member using our share feature is totally fine!
Roaming Guidelines
Our eSIMs are designed for travelers and mobile use:
- Use your eSIM while traveling in the covered destination(s)
- Regional and global plans should be used across multiple countries as intended
- Prolonged use in a single country may be subject to local carrier policies
- Some carriers may restrict certain types of traffic while roaming
Data Limits & Speed
To ensure quality for everyone:
- Use data within the limits of your purchased plan
- Speeds depend on local network conditions and congestion
- Some networks may apply speed restrictions on roaming users
- Extreme usage patterns (constant max-speed downloads 24/7) may result in throttling
- After your data allowance is used, service will stop until you top up
- Top-ups are limited to a maximum of 10 per eSIM
One Account Per Person
Keep it simple - one account per person:
- Each person should have their own Guac account
- Don't create multiple accounts to abuse promotions
- Don't share account credentials with others
- Family members should each have their own account
Prohibited Activities
Please don't do these things:
- Use your eSIM for illegal activities
- Attempt to bypass security or usage limits
- Abuse or overload network resources
- Use automated systems to consume data
- Interfere with our service or other users
What Happens If You Break the Rules?
We prefer to work with you to resolve issues, but we may need to:
- Reach out to understand unusual usage patterns
- Throttle speeds temporarily for very heavy users
- Suspend service if serious violations occur
- Terminate accounts for repeated or egregious violations
We'll always try to contact you first and give you a chance to explain before taking action (unless required by law or to prevent ongoing harm).
